You already know that citrus fruit can boost your immune system and help keep you healthy from the inside, but did you know that citrus fruits can help you get beautiful healthy skin and hair from the outside too? You can make these herbal beauty treatments at home with ingredients you probably already have in the kitchen. Keep lots of fresh citrus fruit on hand so you can whip up these beauty potions anytime you need to.
Citrus facial - This facial is gentle enough to use every day and will detoxify and refresh your skin from the stresses of pollution, sun, wind, and other irritants. Peel and orange and a grapefruit and scrape all the pith off. Boil them both together with two cups of bottled mineral water or filtered water from the tap if you have a water filter. Boil for about 15 minutes. Strain out the peel and pour into a glass jar or bottle. Let it cool and use on your face daily. Keep it in the refrigerator and it can last for up to a week or more.
Citrus facial toner - To fight breakouts, smooth blemishes and tighten pores mix freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with an equal amount of warm, bottled or filtered water. Distilled water is ideal for making beauty treatments at home so you might want to keep some on hand. Splash it on your face after you wash your face and you will notice your skin looks smoother and tighter. Keep refrigerated.
Nail treatment - If your cuticles are hard and never soften or if you cannot get your nails white no matter what you try mix fresh grapefruit juice with three cups of mineral water and soak your nails in the mixture a few times during the week. You will notice softer cuticles and whiter nails after just a few soaks.
Citrus Scrub - You do not need to pay a fortune for spa scrubs. Most spa scrubs are made from ingredients you can find at any grocery store. To make a homemade body and facial scrub that is safe and gentle for your skin mix honey with fresh lemon juice and granulated sugar. The sugar will exfoliate your skin while the lemon juice and honey soften it. You will look great and your skin will smell delicious. Keep the scrub in the refrigerator or mix it up fresh when you want to use it.
